Not only is there a new pop single for the first time tied into a Star Trek movie, but it's featured in the third and final trailer for "Star Trek: Beyond."
The new Rihanna song "Sledgehammer" features a lot of scenes previously shared in past trailers, mixed with a few new ones.
The Rihanna connection was announced over the weekend, a surprise move for Paramount Pictures, which has never commissioned a pop single for a Trek film in the past. Reports are that Rihanna spent two years writing "Sledgehammer," and that it will be featured on the "Beyond" soundtrack, and is not on Rihanna's most-recent album, "Anti."
