When it comes to ticket sales, a lot of people chose "Star Trek: Into Darkness." But the question becomes -- will they choose "Into Darkness" over other films like "Iron Man 3" and "Fast & Furious 6."
We'll all find out Jan. 8 during the 2014 People's Choice Awards.
"Into Darkness" earned three nominations for this year's awards, including Favorite Movie, Favorite Action Movie and Favorite Movie Duo for Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto as Kirk and Spock.
For the Favorite Movie category, "Into Darkness" is up against "Despicable Me 2," "Fast & Furious 6," "Iron Man 3" and "Monsters University." For Favorite Action Movie, the competition is "Fast & Furious 6," "Iron Man 3," "The Wolverine" and "World War Z."
And Kirk and Spock? Well, they have to face Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis in "We're the Millers," Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow in "Iron Man 3," Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in "Gravity," and Bullock again with Melissa McCarthy in "The Heat."
One other Star Trek notable is Chris Hemsworth of 2009's "Star Trek" up for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actor. Hemsworth, who played George Kirk, is up against Channing Tatum, Hugh Jackman, Leonardo DiCaprio and Ryan Gosling.
The awards air Jan. 8 beginning at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. But fans can vote through Dec. 5 for their favorites by clicking here.
