Although he never popped up in anything Star Trek like he did with Marvel’s Iron Man movies, fans everywhere Thursday are mourning the sudden passing of comedian and writer Garry Shandling.
Shandling got his start as a writer for the sitcom “Sanford & Son,” and later starred in two critically acclaimed shows on premium cable — “It’s Garry Shandling’s Show” on Showtime, and in the 1990s, the late-night spoof, “The Larry Sanders Show” on HBO.
It was the “Sanders” show that allowed Shandling to continue bumbling interactions with celebrities, both past and present, including a voice appearance by Shatner in 1992.
We’re sure Shandling would want us to remember him through his comedy, and this scene with Shatner is a great example of that.
