Remastered ‘Wrath Of Khan’ Coming In June To Blu-ray

Will hit shelves same day as four other previously announced Blu-ray sets

Better start making some room on that DVD shelf now.

Not only will this summer be marked with Blu-ray releases for both the modern Star Trek movies and two Star Trek series, but Paramount Home Media Distribution also has scheduled a June 7 release date for the Blu-ray version of “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.”

In fact, the digitally remastered 1982 director’s cut will hit store shelves the same day as “Star Trek” and “Star Trek: Into Darkness” from Paramount, as well as the Blu-ray versions of “Star Trek” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation” from CBS Corp.

Nicholas Meyer will offer his version of the film, as well as “Wrath of Khan’s” original theatrical version, according to a release. It also will have a new 30-minute documentary, “The Genesis Effect: Engineering ‘The Wrath of Khan’,” which will detail the development and production of the film through archival footage, photos and new interviews.

It also will have many of the special releases from past “Star Trek II” home video releases, including commentaries, behind-the-scenes, and interviews with William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Ricardo Montalban and DeForest Kelley.

The Blu-ray is in 1080p high-definition, and also will include a segment featuring the film’s composer, the late Oscar winner James Horner.

Paramount has yet to announce a retail price for the Blu-ray set.
