OK, we’ll admit. We’re not exactly sure what this is supposed to be. But it seems a few fans in The Netherlands thought it would be fun to film a pair of movie shorts bringing together two loves: Star Trek, and the Euromast.
In this video posted by Frank Verheggen, a Starfleet shuttle shows up in Rotterdam, dropping two Starfleet officers onto the observation deck of the Euromast, the 600-foot observation tower that has been a part of Rotterdam’s skyline since 1960.
Despite one of the officers wearing blue jeans as part of his uniform, it seems they are chasing after someone who needs to use a special device to get into the public elevator. Apparently realizing that all’s lost, the two officers fire their phasers, and take out part of the tower. Moments later, they beam back to their shuttlecraft, and for some reason, decide to shave off a few hundred feet from the tower’s spire, too.
Before you can catch your breath, we go from action thriller to a Mr. Bean-style comedy, which they call “Mr. Beam.” A man wakes up, shaves, checks his mail, and decides, “Hey, I’m going to the Euromast.”
Once he gets there, though, he trips over a phaser on the sidewalk. When he picks it up, he apparently hits some buttons, causing it to fire, once again causing a perfectly good Euromast to get destroyed.
What happens after that? Well, you’ll have to watch the video to find out.
