There weren’t a lot of scenes from “Star Trek: Beyond” in the new music video from pop superstar Rihanna, but she sure gave the USS Enterprise a beautiful swan song with the release of “Sledgehammer.”
In the video, Rihanna takes on her own alien look, complete with the ability to move sand and even lift large rocks in a distance, before turning herself into a celestial body that meets face-to-face with the Enterprise.
Rihanna, who says she has been a Star Trek fan since she was a little girl, marked the first time that a Star Trek movie will release a pop single in conjunction with the film. Although other pop songs have been attached to Trek films in the past, they were typically songs that already had been released, and in most cases, were actually classics by the time the film was released.
Check out Rihanna and “Sledgehammer.”
