Sadly, the album itself is not real, but some of the songs are. And yes, you can see Patrick Stewart not only dressed up like a cowboy, but showing he can actually sing country-western songs better than some of the people who get paid millions of dollars to do it.
Stewart, best known for his work on “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” shows he still has a sense of humor just ahead of his 76th birthday as he brings country music classics to life in a faux commercial you might remember back in the days of TBS cartoons. Considered the biggest English-born cowboy, Stewart sings his way through a number of various songs, all in support of International Rescue Committee, which provides humanitarian aid and relief around the world.
The organization, by the way, was partially founded by Albert Einstein in 1933, to help those suffering under the rule of Adolf Hitler.
Anyone who calls the toll-free number in the commercial gets Stewart himself welcoming you in his best cowboy accent, but tells you the super-album of all his hits are all sold out. The website, PStewSings.com says the same thing.
However, you can order a “sampler” of the album, five-full recorded songs, through CDBaby. For $10 (which is a donation to IRC), fans will get to hear “Buttons and Bows,” “Don’t Fence Me In,” “Ringo,” “I’m an Old Cowhand” and “Here Comes Santa Claus.”
