Chris Hemsworth Returns For ‘Star Trek 4’

J.J. Abrams: Fourth film already written

Far too often, fans complain that Hollywood fails to learn from its mistakes.

Not J.J. Abrams, apparently. Some felt that 2013’s “Star Trek: Into Darkness” borrowed too much from 1982’s “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.” Paramount Pictures wasn’t very happy that the script for what would become “Star Trek: Beyond” was practically written at the last minute. And who gives Thor just a cold opening?

To be fair, when Chris Hemsworth filmed his scenes as George Kirk, he was not quite yet known as the Marvel Avenger. But he’s since become a big-name actor — and this is science-fiction. So who says Hemsworth’s Kirk can’t come back from the grave?

Journalist Scott Mantz says not only is it true, but Abrams already has fixed another mistake — the fourth Star Trek film already is written.

So how will Abrams and his team bring back Hemsworth? Time travel? Ghost? Alternate reality? The possibilities are endless.

Hemsworth currently is filming “Thor: Ragnarok,” and is set to also reprise his heroic role in “Avengers: Infinity War.”

The biggest thing is that, just a week before “Beyond” officially hits theaters, Abrams is confident there will indeed be a fourth film. The primary actors already are signed. But the biggest questions are, when did Paramount commission the script? Who wrote it? Who’s up for directing it? And when will it go in front of the cameras?

Important queries for sure. But that will just have to wait. For now.

“Star Trek: Beyond” premieres July 22.
